Halloween Happenings

Halloween! And not a moment too soon!

Josie's preschool class took a field trip to Oma's Pumpkin Patch in eastern San Diego. Fall in San Diego can be doggone hot. Luckily the day Mama accompanied the group, the weather was mild in the 70's.

This year Josie and Rox returned to the Mission Valley Pumpkin Station conveniently located between the mall, freeway, and In-N-Out burger. They love the rides and picking out a tiny pumpkin.
Hey! More hay!

Choo-choo!

Obviously, a thrill.

The pumpkin carving adventure was quite a hoot underlining the mysterious hilarity of toddler behavior. Perhaps it was all Dad's talk of roasting pumpkin seeds or Josie's suggestions of pumpkin soup that caused Roz to quake with fear when the stringy, wriggling innards were revealed. "I don't want to eat it!" she eventually shouted.

This year the girls decided to base their Halloween costumes on characters in a beloved library book, City Witch, Country Switch. Mama made the costumes while Dad constructed the brooms.

The family trick-or-treated with the Stallings gang in Kensington again this year. Roz walked with Mom and had a tendency to blink cutely at homeowners until she was invited to take a second helping of candy. It was highly effective and made up for her lack of speed. Josie kept up with the big dogs and got about the same haul.

Mama took a Dia de los Muertos cooking class and was able to bring home extra sugar skulls for the girls to decorate. Surprise -- it was a hit!

That about rounds out the Halloween 2013 activities. Mama is hopeful that her photo storage issues have been resolved and that more posts are forthcoming!
