Recently JP, Annie, and Josie savored their last weekend without social commitments before the new baby's arrival with a hike in the mountains and a trip to the beach. Although the temperatures were quite balmy at sea level on Saturday, the weather at the Burnt Rancheria Campground on Mount Laguna was brisk in the low 50's. Josie helped Mama and Daddy identify birds while herding pine cones, which she kept calling pineapples, and acorns.

Sunday morning was a beautiful day at La Jolla Shores beach. Once Josie's sand toys were unloaded she immediately dumped a shovel full of sand into one of the beach bags. Doh! Luckily she would be content to just pile sand on the beach blanket for the remainder of the trip.

And some on Dad's knee for good measure

While the air temperature was in the mid 80's the water was quite chilly in the low 60's. Josie couldn't help but want to dip her toes.
