Merry, Merry

Josie and Roslyn had a fun lead up to Christmas at home in San Diego before traveling to Pennsylvania to celebrate round two at Grammy and Grandpa Bob's house. Their favorite Christmas activities included:
  • Pointing out holiday lights outside of houses as if it were the first time they had ever seen lights ("LOOK! LOOK! LIIIIIIIIIGHTS!!!! LIIIGHTSsssSS!!) until an adult acknowledged their finding.
  • Reading "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". Josie could recite the entire book from memory this year and Roz had an insatiable appetite for hearing the story. Yes, Mama and Daddy took advantage of this fortuitous intersection.
  • Visiting the zoo for Jungle Bells, although only once.
  • Singing various holiday tunes including: "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer", "Jingle Bells" (Josie taught her class the "Dashing through the snow" part), "Rudolph", "Deck the Halls", "Holly Jolly Christmas", and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". Josie belts out the entire song while Roslyn chimes in with a word or two at the end of each phrase.

Mama and her friend Leslie discovered a tasty vegetarian Thai restaurant in University Heights. Everyone loves to go there to stuff her face, some more literally than others.

Power Eating

Tis the season to eat!
The Joh(a)ns(e/o)ns  only made it over to the San Diego Zoo once for the annual Jungle Bells celebration. They've grown too darned popular and so had many social engagements leading up to Christmas.

Mama took Josie to see the San Diego Civic Youth Ballet's performance of "The Nutcracker." It was very cute with the majority of performers being children. Josie's favorite parts were the little mouse and angel ballerinas.

Decorating Christmas cookies was a fun, but not so pretty adventure...

"Head Wound Harry", as JP called him.

Controlled Chaos
Oh jeez.

Josie had a sweet little luncheon at school for which she volunteered to bring the chicken nuggets. Oh, the trials of raising a vegetarian child in this modern society of faux meats!

Josie and Roslyn opened presents on the morning of Christmas Eve since their flight to Grammy's was scheduled for the crack of dawn on December 25.
