The Joh(a)ns(e/o)ns had neither a great nor a terrible close to winter 2013. Josie was sick a bunch, but everyone managed to have a pretty good time despite a regular adherence to the BRAT diet.

Both girls love drawing and do so daily on the easel prominently displayed for lack of space in our kitchen. Roslyn mostly makes squiggles and scribbles. Josie likes to draw people (mostly Mama), hearts, whales, and butterflies.

Josie's preschool class took an interest in the great outdoors and enjoyed a pretend camping trip at school one day. The kids all dressed in pajamas, pretended to sleep in a big tent, and toasted marshmallows and weenies. Josie's interest was in how butterflies could fly so she made some wings to aid in her investigation.
Grandma Gar and Papaw came for a visit in late January. The girls loved the extra availability of playmates and readers of books. Papaw turned out to be an excellent patient for Dr. Johnson and Dr.Johnson. Josie is sometimes referred to as Dr. Ratchett due to her extreme treatment recommendations. This moniker gets her very riled up causing her to scream, "I'm just a little girl!"
The family had a long weekend in the Pacific Northwest to visit friends. The highlight for Josie was the butterfly jungle at the Pacific Science Center. She was terrified that the butterflies would land on her and also extremely disappointed that no butterflies landed on her.

Sweet Roslyn has a charming, stubborn, and proud personality. She is often particular about what she wears (like that octopus
onesie under her jammers) and wants to have certain shoes on or off at
her whim. She likes to have jackets put on her -- always with the hood
up and zipped.

Rozzie moved out of her baby high chair and into a Stokke Tripp Trapp chair just like big sis. It came in a big box which made a great playhouse for a couple days.
Lately, gardening has been all the rage. Roz loves "helping" Dad.

Roslyn "Me, Too" Johnson loves emulate everything her family members do from gardening to singing to crossing her legs. Too bad this imitation does not carry over to the eating of anything green.

Josie dealt with a bout of the stomach flu about a week before Easter and was completely crestfallen at the thought of missing the Easter Bunny due to her bum GI tract. She wound up being ready enough for treats by Easter Sunday.

The family purchased seeds and seedlings for Garden 2013 on the Saturday before Easter. Daddy did most of the real work, Roslyn did a lot of helping, and Josie did a lot of yelling, "Stop your partyin', ants!" at the ants that took over the raised bed over the winter.
The girls found their baskets in the morning and hunted for eggs after their naps in the afternoon. They really had fun. Mama once again felt guilty for filling the majority of the eggs with Cheerios, Goldfish, and stickers. Next year!
Lotsa thorough tooth brushing occurred on Easter night.
And, as is Mama's tradition now, the Monday Bunny came at the stroke of midnight to take away all the uneaten candy. Roslyn was not very pleased on Monday morning when Mama explained that the Easter baskets were gone because Easter was over. She felt more encouraged by Josie's sisterly wisdom: "Easter's not gone -- It'll come back next year!"
