Happy Valentines

Josie was invited to her first Valentine's Day soiree along with the other kiddos from Stroller Strides. With her burgeoning artistic skill and with the idea of practicing her colors in mind, Josie insisted on crafting her 2011 Valentines.

"Painting! Painting!"

She avoided the pink paint for quite a while. Atta girl! Once she got a taste for the color, she demanded many more helpings. Doh!

Josie was excited to later see her paintings cut up into heart shapes because a heart is one shape she likes to identify. Her other favorite shapes are circle, star, x, diamond, and square (AKA "house"). Mama casually explained, "A heart means 'I love you.'" Josie spent the next ten minutes repeating, "Heart! Oy loh loo! Means!" Thus, the theme for Josie's Valentines was born.

Finished Product

Josie was so exhausted with prepping for the party (as well as an extensive conversation she had on her phone that morning while jogging around the house) that she fell asleep on the way to the park.

At the party, getting ready to pass out Valentines

To show that she's not a total pushover for this gushy love stuff, Josie chose to wear a black shirt with a sassy little phrase on it. JP and Annie bought this shirt for Josie's cousin, Jack, six years ago.

"my dad can dropkick your dad"

"Passing out Valentines is hard work! Even my tiara is tired."

"What's this in my Valentines sack?"

"Loot!"

After rifling through her loot Josie played in the park. These days she still mostly plays solo, but enjoys making a friend or two if she can find a friendly someone in her size.

Mustering up the courage to slide

Josie is finally excited about interacting with her buddy, Fia. Being a year and a half older than Josie, Fia was excited to play with Josie about a year ago when Josie was quite sessile and uninterested. It seems Josie has finally come around.

After some intense play, Josie fell asleep on the way home. She often konks out on the way home from Stroller Strides, but today she seemed exceptionally tired. On top of those catnaps Josie took a three-hour nap at home. Spreading love is so tiring!
